Handbell Choir rehearsals began on Tuesday., Sept. 21 at 5:30 pm in the Choir Room. If you have always wanted to try playing bells, this Tuesday might be your chance. Come and try it out this week. We will start at the beginning with skills and basic techniques. We would love to have a full bell choir this season.

Premier Luncheon for Seniors Thursday, Sept. 30th, 12:30 pm in Zirbel Hall. Dr. Ayman Neoman will speak on The Aging Colon. Please call 1/800.548-5559 to reserve a lunch.

Moms In Touch, International - Do you have a child or grandchild in school this year? Are you at all concerned as to how you can actively help them through the year? Moms In Touch, (MITI), mission is to impact children and schools worldwide for Christ by gathering mothers to pray. Beginning in October, we will be forming a prayer group here at GSPC on Wednesday mornings. Contact Carol Jaeger for more information.

Prayer Meeting for Persecuted Christians has the next scheduled meeting on Mon, Oct. 4th. Pick up prayer materials from Open Doors ministry at the Kiosk.

Mommy & Me begins Wed., Oct. 6th. Gather at 9:15 am, starts at 9:30-11:30 am, Fireside Room. Louise Carey is returning to share her wisdom with the Moms. Questions, please call Paula Skaugstad or Carol Jaeger.

Senior Adult Luncheon featuring the Crows Feet Band- Wed., Oct. 6th, 12:00 noon in Zirbel Hall. Cost: $5.00. Last year we packed the house so get your reservation in quick! Notice the change of date: this is the 1st Wed. of the month! Sign up at the Senior Adult table in the patio.

Moms Group Forming begins Wed., Oct. 6, 6:30 pm at the Conference Table in the office. Study will be Boundaries with Kids by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend. Need more info...call or email JoAnn Wall.

Prayer Partners Letters were sent to those in our GSPC family who our Prayer Partners will be praying for in October. Please indicate your confidential requests on the back of the letter and place it in the Prayer Box in the Narthex or Email your confidential requests.

Transportation Needs: Various times during the months of Oct., Nov., and Dec. the some of our members need a ride to and from church for 2nd service (10:30). If you are able to help, please call Roy Benstead, Deacon in charge of Transportation Ministry. God Bless!

The Women’s Retreat is supporting a Carlsbad-based Military Outreach Ministry program. They have requested items for their 1st Baby Kits rather than food items (they are having a huge food drive this weekend). A list of needed items can be found at the retreat table. Specially needed items are small infant toys, crib sheets, towels/washcloths and gift cards for diapers. Congregation members are welcome to donate as well. Contact Beth Piburn.

New 2011 Entertainment Books Are Here! Beginning today, we will be selling the new 2011 Entertainment Books between services. The cost is $35.00 for each book. There are over $17,000.00 in savings (if you use all the coupons), but most often the cost of the book more than pays for itself very quickly. They also make wonderful birthday or Christmas presents. Get them while they last. We only have 39 books, 30 for Orange County and 9 for L.A. County. Profits benefit the Deacon’s Benevolent Fund.

Save The Date! The Local Missions Fair is coming Sunday, Oct. 24th! You are invited to join us in the gym after services and bring a canned food item, gently used clothing or toiletry item(s) to the fair. Come to this exciting event and learn how your giving is working in the community and what you can do to serve in love.

Galaxy Game Day Sunday, Oct. 24th for middle school and high school students. Together we will be joining in fellowship as we eat lunch, tailgate, play stadium games, walk on the field prior to the game, and watch a great game against FC Dallas ($20 per ticket + $ for lunch and snacks). Winter Camp Dates Middle School Winter Camp at Forest Home is Jan. 7-9, 2011-$175.00, and High School Winter Camp at Forest Home is Feb. 11-13, 2011-$175.00 (scholarships always available).

Limuru Presbytery Help Is Needed: There is enough donated medical equipment now for Los Ranchos Presbytery to ship five containers full to Kenya. When that date is known, and we assemble at a warehouse to load, strong bodies are needed. If you can help, please contact Don Travis, GSPC WWM-T, for date/time.

$5000 Challenge Issued to GSPC - Covenant Presbyterian Church has a program called Rising Tide which provides activities like tutoring, sports, music lessons, and cooking classes which engage students who need a safe place to go after school. A member of Good Shepherd, who has observed the life-changing impact of this program, will match any contributions from GSPC up to a total of $5000 during the month of September. Stop by the Local Missions table or contact Sue Brown.

Chancel Choir If you love to sing, you are invited to join us on Thursdays, 7:00 pm for our weekly choir practice. No audition is required. Questions, please call Dee Abell at 562/493-2553 ext. 113.

Awaken Our Hearts! Birth Choice Volunteer Training Opportunity. Birth Choice Health Clinics minister to young women/men facing unplanned pregnancies, many of whom are contemplating abortion. Please see announcement and information in the Sept./Oct. issue of the Shepherd’s Voice Newsletter.

Prayer for the Fulani Please pray for a gathering of Fulani believers which is taking place this weekend. People are coming together from all over West Africa for teaching, fellowship, and prayer together. Pray for the Spirit’s work to empower each believer and to grow them in unity as a Body.

The GSPC Men’s Group meets for breakfast at Cocos Restaurant on Valley View Blvd. every Thursday morning at 6:30am. All men are invited. Get directions from Google Maps or contact Mark Malbon for further details.

Christian Care is only a phone call away! If you find yourself needing any help, don't forget to call our Deacons. We can provide meals, help with small home repair, come visit, bring communion to you, provide transportation to the doctor or grocery store or church, and many other services. Stop by the deacons table or call Marie at the church.

Equipment Exchange If you have unused equipment that we pass on to someone in need, please contact Marie Crenshaw at x105 or by E-Mail. We need small wheelchairs and shower chairs, and we will pick up if needed.

Prayer Chain Ministry If you desire prayer, please fill out a prayer card (in the sanctuary) or call 562-493-2553 x 1. All requests are confidential.

Home Communion is the first Sunday of each month. If you cannot attend worship and would like home communion, contact Tom Barnes or contact Marie Crenshaw at x105 or by E-Mail.

Please Pray for all of those currently serving and those who have served in the military, their families, our veterans and their families.
